A corner sweetshop at the end of the day. You are behind the counter, the lamp is on, and the sweets keep coming. Tap the jar a sweet belongs in and down it goes. That is the whole game, and it is harder than it sounds: sweets arrive faster and in greater numbers as the shift goes on, and by the end there are six jars, four sweets in the air at once and thirty seconds of closing rush where everything pays double. Sort it early and it is worth half again. A sweet you commit to while it is still high in the chute pays a bonus on everything it earns, streak included. Reading fast is the skill. A run of clean sorting is most of your score. Keep the streak alive and every sweet and every jar is worth more. Break it and you start again. Fill a jar and it sells. The bell rings, a bag goes out over the counter, and a coin stays behind on the counter for the rest of the shift. Three complaints and you are sent home early — a sweet in the wrong jar, a sweet on the floor, or a wasp where a sweet should be. Get a dozen right in a row and one complaint is settled. A shift is three minutes. Everybody's score covers the same three minutes, so the leaderboard is a fair fight. Gobstoppers fit any jar. Wasps fit none: let them fall past and they pay you for the nerve. One thumb, one tap, no reading. Outside the window the queue grows as the evening goes on, and when the clock runs out the awning rolls in, the blind comes down, and you cash up.
