Halloween night. Every lantern on the hill has gone out but yours, and the dead want the last light. You never aim. Your flames fire on their own; you move, you dash, and you choose what grows. Every one of the dead you put out leaves a soul, and a full flame opens a choice of three: a new weapon, a stronger one, or a passive to go with it. Take a weapon to its peak with the right partner and it evolves into something else entirely. There are six to find. The night comes in eight hours, and each one brings something new up the hill. Skulls at dusk. Bats that will not fly straight. Ghosts that draw breath before they lunge. Scarecrows too heavy to push, which push you instead. Witches who keep their distance and curse from afar. Each hour has its own colour and its own bell, and halfway through, the Blood Moon rises with your own grin on its face, drops pink rings where you are heading, and turns the whole hill red. Bring it down, and it comes back before the end. Somewhere out in the dark a bonfire is still burning. Going to it means leaving the crowd. It mends your light, pays, and burns back the dead around it, and the first time you find it, it gives you something you will not get any other way. A night is five minutes. Hold on until dawn and the hill turns pale; go out, and the card tells you what took you and what to try next. The score rewards kills late in the night, evolutions, both moons, and a long run of kills without being touched. It plays with one thumb: drag anywhere to move, double-tap or press DASH to dash. On a keyboard, WASD or the arrows and Space; a gamepad works too. Everything plays signed out; only the leaderboard needs an account, and the game says so in plain words.
